1 Timothy 6:3-4 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,
Contention and arguments only end in strife and division. The Holy Spirit inspired the Apostle Paul to write on this subject to young Timothy, warning him not to engage in such discussions. The moment it becomes “my side versus your side,” it is an argument and needs to stop.
Some people are obsessed with arguing because they believe themselves to be right about everything. This is the evil spirit of pride ministering to these people. The Word of God has a lot to say about arguing and contention, and none of it is good. It NEVER leads to anything positive or good.
Proverbs 22:10 Cast out the scoffer, and contention will leave; Yes, strife and reproach will cease.
Proverbs 17:14 The beginning of strife is like releasing water; Therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts.
Proverbs 18:6 A fool’s lips enter into contention, And his mouth calls for blows.
Proverbs 18:19 A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, And contentions are like the bars of a castle.
Proverbs 19:13 A foolish son is the ruin of his father, And the contentions of a wife are a continual dripping.
The Word of God always speaks for itself. There is no need to argue about it. Let the Word be your Standard for living and STOP ARGUING about it. It’s foolish to attempt to argue with God and His Word.
These are the words of the Apostle Paul to Timothy: Let as many bondservants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the Name of God and His Doctrine may not be blasphemed. And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brethren, but rather serve them because those who are benefited are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.
If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the Words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the Doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the Truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. (1 Timothy 6:1-5)
That says it all. Don’t let these people lure you through the fence of the Pasture of Plenty into the evil world of contention and strife where they abide. Rather, abide in Christ and His Word and live the Abundant Life of Peace Jesus gave His Life for you to have. Simply, withdraw yourself from these people.
God’s Word will absolutely……….turn the tide........in your life!
In The Word, Doreen
