The Benefits of belief in Jesus continue! We’ve already talked about Forgiveness and Healing. Today, we will discuss Redemption from Destruction. This is a Benefit that virtually all Christians underestimate.
To begin, we must first define the word Redemption. The word has the following definitions: The action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil. The action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt. The act of making something better or more acceptable. The act of exchanging something for money, an award, etc. An act of redeeming or atoning for a fault or mistake, or the state of being redeemed. Deliverance; rescue. Atonement for guilt.
Many people view Redemption in the same light as Forgiveness, but there is far more to it than that. The Gift of Redemption is God’s way of totally eliminating EVERY act of wrongdoing we have ever committed. It is as if it NEVER HAPPENED. The Word of God says, He casts our sins into the Sea of Forgetfulness. Our sins are separated from Him as far as the East is from the West. He remembers them NO MORE! He will never recall them.
Have you ever had someone tell you they forgive you, only to throw it right back up in your face later? God will NEVER, EVER DO THIS! ! ! When He says He remembers them no more. That’s it! The matter is settled, your debt has been paid. It is as if it never happened. Hallelujah!
This is absolute Deliverance and only God is capable of granting Redemption which is actually the act of being set free from the bondage of our past. Redemption is Freedom. It is a tremendous Benefit in our Believer's Benefit Package which is beyond any man's measure!
Stand tall, my friend! You have been Redeemed; Delivered; set free! Live like it! Talk like it! Act like it and give the Lord praise for it!
