Living For God

Hebrews 4:12 For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Many people do not believe the Word of God is pertinent to life today. NOTHING could be farther from the truth! The Word of God IS God! (John 1:1) Just as God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are alive, the Word of God is also alive.

The writer of Hebrews tells us that the Word of God is not only living but powerful. It is a DIVINE LIVING DOCUMENT that is intended to bring the believer to a righteous way of life. Everything we need to know can be found in God’s Word. The answer to any question regarding any situation can be found in His Word.

The Word of God is complete and unchanging. Nothing will ever be able to destroy God’s Word. It is everlasting and true. In his second letter to Timothy, the Apostle writes about the Word of God. Timothy had been raised in the Word. He had been taught the Scriptures. In this Letter, Paul tells Timothy some of the attributes of the Word.

2 Timothy 3:15-17 ...that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

From these two Verses we learn a lot about the Word of God. When we look at every Word and Phrase, it is amazing, and we begin to get a feel of just how powerful and important the Word is.

The Word of God is able to make you wise. The Word brings Wisdom, which is far beyond mere knowledge.

The Word of God will lead a person to: salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. It is God’s Will that all be saved and born again and it is ONLY by the Word of God that this is accomplished. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

The Word of God is: profitable for doctrine, The definition of doctrine is, sound, scriptural teaching on theological Truths. All such Teaching and Truth is found in the Word of God and will profit the believer.

The Word of God is: for reproof, God’s Word will convict a person of their wrongdoing. It will bring the Truth to every situation. Another term for reproof is rebuke, which is a sharp reprimand. It is not a mere swat on the hand, but a strong, stern scolding.

The Word of God is profitable: for correction, the Word of God will guide us in the right direction and keep our steps on the right path. Much like a modern GPS, the Word of God will say, “MAKE U-TURN NOW!” when we get off on the wrong track.

The Word of God is profitable,  for instruction in righteousness, The Word is intended to be our instruction guide for righteous living. That is to say, our handbook for “How to live a life pleasing to God.”

The Word of God will ensure that the man of God may be complete, The Word omits nothing in regard to God’s Plan and Order for His Universe. God desires for every person to be complete, and the Word of God will direct us into completeness. No person is complete without the Word of God.

The Word of God will assure that God's people are thoroughly equipped for every good work.  God has good work for every person to do, and through His Word ,we

will be equipped for that work. The Word will NEVER guide us into any work or activity that is not in line with God’s Plan or Order for His Universe.

The study of God’s Word is imperative if the believer desires to live their life for God. This simply cannot be accomplished without the Word. God's Word is the single most valuable Treasure on earth. Within the pages of The Book is everything anyone needs to know about any life situation.

Please ponder the following statement before you move on into your day: NOTHING on earth is more important than the Word of God.

The Word of God will............turn the tide

In the Word more each day,      Doreen
