Luke 5:4 Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.
In the Fifth Chapter of Luke, we read where Jesus used Peter and borrowed his boat to teach from. We have been discussing the importance of acting in obedience to the call of God on our lives. Suppose God asks to use something you have. LET HIM! When you do, a blessing will come your way.
As we read on in the Fifth Chapter of Luke, we see the blessing Peter and his partners received due to Peter’s obedience.
After Jesus finished teaching the people, He told Peter to Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch. To this, Peter responded, Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your Word I will let down the net.
Again, Peter operated in faith and obedience. They had been fishing all night and didn’t catch a single fish. These men were expert fishermen. They knew how to fish, and yet that night they got what fishermen refer to as, skunked! All they got that night was a boat ride.
However, due ONLY to Peter’s faith and obedience to the Master, they would let down their nets exactly where Jesus told them to. This is when the blessing came! And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. (Luke 5:6-7)
They caught so many fish in their nets that night, the nets began to tear. They had to call their partners in the other boat to come help them bring them all in, and there were so many fish, both boats began to sink. Now that’s a Blessing!
Peter allowed Jesus to use him and his boat for His Purpose. Peter’s boat was his workplace. Jesus responded to Peter’s obedience and rewarded him in his workplace. That is the way God does things. It is the principle of sowing and reaping. Peter sowed a seed of his business into the Work of God, and he reaped a great harvest in his business.
We need to remember this and know that God will bless us richly when we respond to His Call in obedience. We will always reap what we sow. God turned the tide of Peter’s situation that day, and He will do the same for you if you will let down your net!
Only God can……..turn the tide
God is so good! Doreen
