1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the Victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 

 

Probably the greatest, most powerful benefit in our Believer’s Benefit Package is Victory over sin. When Jesus declared “It is finished.” sin was defeated once and forever. When believers walk in the Victory that Jesus died for them to have, they can overcome sin, the flesh and the devil. 

 

This is a moment-by-moment walk with the Lord. It is the choice to stay in the Pasture of Plenty and keep our faith in the Cross of Christ, where sin was defeated once and for all.  We cannot do this on our own. Only through our faith in Jesus and the Cross can we overcome sin.

 

Jesus said, These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. (John 16:33) 

 

Jesus defeated Satan and his world of sin two thousand years ago on the Cross. We can live in His Victory when we keep our faith in Him and His Work on the Cross. On our own, we are helpless and without the strength to overcome. However, when we choose to abide in Him we will know the Victory in Jesus! 

 

Jesus also said, Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. (John 15:4) Abide means to live in; dwell; remain. 

 

Jesus is the Gate to the Pasture of Plenty. He is also the Good Shepherd over those within the Pasture. Once inside, we are not only cared for by the Good Shepherd, but we can also abide in Him, and He will abide in us. We become One with Him! We are born again with a New Shepherd! We are no longer the old self with all the old sin patterns. We are a NEW Creation! We are no longer the stupid sheep that follow the herd over the cliff, but the property of the Good Shepherd who watches over us and guides us into His Righteousness! This, my friends, is Abundant Life found ONLY in the Pasture of Plenty, all made possible by our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ! 

 

The Benefit of Victory awaits you inside the Gate where you will hear the Good Shepherd say, Welcome Home!
