God's Order For Marriage
January 24, 2026, 3:00 AM

Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

God’s Plan and Order for His Universe covers every aspect of human life. When God created man and woman, He performed the first marriage and they became the first family. God’s Order for the family is not complex but has many facets. One such facet we read about in God’s Word, is found in Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

When a man and woman get married, together they start a new family. Although they are still related to their parents and remain part of their family, it is God’s Plan that they begin a new life together on their own. This is an important factor in a successful marriage. For ANYTHING to be successful, it must be within the guidelines of God’s Order.

We all have known people who just can’t seem to leave their parents and go out on their own. Although they are married, they are still very much attached to their mother, father, grandparent, guardian or other relative. This is out of God’s Order and will cause many problems in a marriage.

A woman who constantly runs home to mama or daddy because things are not exactly the way she wants them to be, is out of order in her marriage.

Likewise, a man who is a “mama’s boy” or spends more time with his dad than he does his wife, is also out of order. In both cases, the marriage is headed for trouble because they are not living life according to God’s Order for married couples.

Parents of a married child who constantly interfere in their child’s magrriage are also operating outside God’s Order. God’s Plan for marriage is straight forward and on this subject God's Word says, Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

God’s Order for marriage is for the man and woman to hold fast to each other with God in the center. All advice and direction can be found in God’s Word. The Holy Spirit is intended to be their Guide, Teacher and Counselor for every situation that comes up.

Anytime we do anything that is outside God’s Divine Plan and Order for His Universe, we are causing a problem and it will not turn out well. God does not reward disobedience to His Word. However, He does bless those who do their best to comply and seek Him first. Jesus said, Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)

God’s Order is perfect. When we seek to be in compliance with Him and His Word, He will bless us beyond our wildest imagination. That’s the way He planned it and that’s the way it will be.

God is God and only He can........turn the tide
