2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Jesus told us that Satan comes ONLY to kill, steal, and destroy. (John 10:10) His demonic spirit of fear is one of his most powerful weapons against God’s people. It’s a natural reaction to be scared and so many times we don’t realize when we are afraid that we are being attacked by the enemy.
The Word of God says, For God has not given us a spirit of fear, the spirit of fear is NOT of God. He does not make people afraid. ALL fear is from the enemy.
God is spirit. Satan is also a spirit. God has an untold number of Righteous Spirits who guide, guard, and protect us every day. The greatest of these is the Holy Spirit, who is God Himself. Satan has a great number of demonic spirits on his side who tempt and torture us every day as well. We are in the midst of a spiritual battle all the time.
All spirits have a source. They are all either Righteous or demonic. When Satan was banished from Heaven, all the spirits chose a side. One-third chose to go with Satan, and two-thirds remained with God. The spirits that went with Satan are those whom he has used since that time and still uses to kill, steal, and destroy the people who make up the Kingdom of God.
As I said earlier, the demonic spirit of fear is one of Satan’s most powerful weapons against people. When this spirit begins to minister to a person, it robs them of their faith. Fear is the opposite spirit of the Righteous Spirit of Faith. They are opponents: Light and darkness.
The dark spirit of fear robs us of our power, love, and of our sound mind. A fearful person is powerless. They hide in fear. A person in hiding is unable to express their love to others. If they remain in a state of fear long enough, they become paranoid and lose their mind.
Now, let’s look at this Passage of Scripture once again. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of POWER and of LOVE and of a SOUND MIND. I pray you can see the spiritual battle portrayed in this single Verse of Scripture.
The other day, we discussed the fact that Jesus has given us Power over demonic spirits. We can cast them out! Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your Name. And He said to them, I saw Satan fall like lightning from Heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:17-19)
We each have a choice to make. We can choose to live in the captivity of the demonic spirit of fear, OR we can cast it out of our life and CHOOSE to live a life of Faith and know that God has given us POWER, LOVE, and a SOUND MIND.
Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will……..turn the tide
I choose Faith! Doreen
