Deuteronomy 8:18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His Covenant that He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
The focus on wealth and status today is phenomenal. I would venture to say that in America, acquiring status, wealth, and riches is the primary focus of most. I suppose that is due to our free market system and capitalism. We have the freedom to work hard and succeed, so we set goals to acquire more and more. No matter what we have, we want more. We have a fine house, but we want a bigger one. Our car runs great, but we want a new one. We already have a closet full of clothes, but we must have the latest fashion. We live in a “keep up with the Jones” society.
Although Americans have the freedom to prosper, as Christians, we must never lose sight of the Source of our ability to do so. The Word of God tells us of this Source. You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His Covenant that He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
The way this is written, it is as if God is saying, I am the One who gives you the power to attain wealth and DON’T EVER FORGET IT! He said, You shall remember the Lord your God.
In the same sentence, He goes on to tell us the purpose of our power to attain wealth and possessions. that He may establish His Covenant that He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
This Passage of Scripture brings home a powerful Truth: On our own, we can attain nothing. The ability and power to gain wealth is given to us by God and is to be used to establish His Covenant.
This is the purpose for everything God gives us, including our very life. We exist to be used by Him to establish His Covenant. Our gifts and talents have been given to us to establish His Covenant.
Everything we acquire and possess is to be used to establish His Covenant.
God would never enable someone to establish or enhance the world or the evil work of Satan. Everything we are and have comes from God and is to be used to establish His Covenant.
His Covenant is the Gospel of Christ, which is God’s Redemption Plan for all people. Our purpose in life is to use everything we have and every day of our lives, to establish His Covenant and DON’T EVER FORGET IT!
Never forget that God has all Power, including Power to……..turn the tide
Never forgetting, Doreen
