Matthew 11:29-30 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
Yesterday, we discussed the Believer’s Benefit of Rest, which is readily available to every born-again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. The FACT is, Jesus suffered and died so you can rest. What a Benefit!
Believers have a choice as to where they can spend their lives here on earth. They can live and dwell in the Pasture of Plenty, or they can leave the Pasture and spend their days struggling in the world consumed by sin, the flesh, and the devil. It seems like a no-brainer, but the sin nature is so powerful, it’s not so easy.
The Pasture of Plenty and the world outside the fence is what Jesus spoke about in John 10:7-10, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the Door of the sheep. All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the Door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
The enemy seeks to lure us outside the Pasture of Plenty, robbing us of the Abundant Life Jesus died for us to have. Satan and his world draw us to the fence, away from the Cross which stands in the center of the Pasture. Jesus refers to Satan as the thief because he seeks to rob us of all our Benefits including our Salvation. He will never stop trying to get us to jump the fence and spend our days out in his evil world.
It’s a terrible place out there, and we don’t have to live outside the fence. Jesus also said we will go in and out and find pasture. The Lord will not force us to stay in the Pasture, but He will always welcome us back inside where we belong and are safe.
It’s a tough world out there. Sin is everywhere. Satan has control of the world and makes it all look so inviting and fun, but it's nothing more than a huge trap. Once ensnared, we find ourselves living all tangled up in barbed wire, with heavy, burdensome chains draped over our shoulders. We spend our days dragging all this everywhere we go, and every day we become more tired and weighed down. This is the way Satan would have us all living, but Jesus said, I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
We wish my friends. Due to the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, we are all born with the sin nature, but the Word of God tells us that we can have Victory over sin! That is the Good News of the Gospel of Christ.
Although we will NEVER be perfect here on earth, we can live the Abundant Life in the Pasture of Plenty when we continually make the choice to stay in the Center of the Pasture at the Cross of Christ. The ONLY Victory is in Jesus. He is the ONLY Way. He is the ONLY Door. Enter in through Him and remain in the Pasture of Plenty. Enjoy the Abundant Life where His Yoke is easy and His burden is light.
God is waiting to.......... turn the tide..........in your life.
Praise Him! Doreen
