1 Corinthians 12:4 There are diversities of Gifts, but the same Spirit.
Have you ever watched a child receive a beautiful gift only to throw it down in search of another? How about the child who takes a nice gift and immediately breaks it or discards it as unwanted? Why do children do this? They do it because they do not understand the beauty and importance of the gift they have been given, and they have little regard for the giver of the gift.
Do Christians do the same with the Gifts they have been given? Every Gift comes to us by way of the Holy Spirit. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. (James 1:17) All Gifts of God are beautiful and useful in the building of His Kingdom. That is the purpose of Spiritual Gifts and all the natural talents and abilities God implanted in us at the time He created us.
Ephesians 4:11 And He Himself gave some to be Apostles, some Prophets, some Evangelists, and some Pastors and Teachers, These are just some of the Gifts given to people by the Holy Spirit. There are many more, and Paul talks about them in the 12th Chapter of 1 Corinthians. The question is: Why are we given Gifts? The Apostle Paul answers that question in the same sentence: for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the Body of Christ....
The problem we run into so often is with the Believer who enters the Pasture of Plenty through the Gate named Jesus, receives their Gifts and, like the child mentioned above, they either throw them down in search more, discard them as unwanted, or take their gifts outside the fence of the Pasture of Plenty and use them in the world instead of the Purpose God intended. That Purpose being, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the Body of Christ....
Today, let us examine ourselves as to the Gifts we have been given and the talents and abilities the Lord has blessed us with. What are we doing with these Gifts? For what purpose are we using them? Are we using our Gifts to equip and edify the Body of Christ and build the Kingdom of God?
If these questions have brought conviction to your heart, it’s time to repent. Repentance is the Key to all the Benefits and Blessings of God. Whenever we go to the Lord in sincere repentance, He will forgive our sin. Forgiveness is a tremendous Benefit in our Believer’s Benefit Package, but it is ONLY received when we approach the Lord in sincere repentance. If we confess our sins, He is Faithful and Just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
Sincere Repentance will….......turn the tide..........in your life.
Forgive me Lord, Doreen
