Benefit Of Rest

Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

As we continue our study of the Believer’s Benefit Package, the Benefit put forth by Jesus in the above Passage of Scripture is remarkable!

The Pasture of Plenty is overflowing with Benefits for the Believer. It is the place of total contentment where the Believer can just lie down in the tall, lush grass and worship the Lord without hindrance. There, every want and need is filled, and it’s all made possible by Christ’s Sacrifice on the Cross, which stands straight and tall right in the middle of the Pasture.

Jesus said, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28) Most people live their lives being heavily laden and burdened by the weight of their sin and problems. Finally, they reach the point when they simply cannot carry the load any longer. That is the moment they fall on their face at the foot of the Cross of Christ and give up. They cry out, saying, “Help me, Lord. Forgive me, God. I cannot go on another day in this condition. Thank you, Jesus, for going to the Cross on my behalf. I need you, and I cannot live another day in this condition. Please God, help me.”

At that precise moment, the Gate is opened to the Pasture of Plenty, and the person is saved and welcomed inside. Their name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and the immediate feeling of Peace floods their soul as the heavy weight they have carried for so long falls off and is left outside the Gate.

After a single step inside the Gate, they fall down in the Pasture and Rest, perhaps for the first time ever in their life. It’s like being so tired from work and being able to just fall down into a deep, comfortable feather bed and sleep peacefully until you naturally wake up.

The Benefit of Rest is one of the most precious available to us. Jesus promises to give us Rest if we will come to Him. It’s so simple!

Whatever it is that is causing you pain or anxiety, take it to Jesus and give it to Him. When you truly let it go, He WILL give you rest in regard to that situation. That is His Promise to you, and as we discussed yesterday, it is FULLY guaranteed by the Holy Spirit.

If you are a born-again Christian, there is no need to be in the Pasture of Plenty carrying around any heavy burden. Head to the center of the Pasture. There, you will find the Cross. Jesus said, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

When you give it to Him, He will......... turn the tide ........in your life.

Resting in Him,     Doreen
