John 17:20 And the Glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are One: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
An often overlooked Benefit in the Believers Benefit Package, is that of the Glory of God. This is another Free Gift given to every believer by Jesus. The purpose of this Benefit is to bring unity in the Body of Christ. In Jesus’ Prayer for the believers, He said, And the Glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are One:
We have been given the Glory of God by Jesus Himself! He said, And the Glory which You gave Me I have given them, The Glory of God is the “spiritual glue” that binds the Body of Christ together in unity.
Satan has worked hard to destroy this unity, and the Apostle Paul knew it. He wrote about it in Galatians 5:19-20 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, strife, seditions....
The dictionary defines seditions as: The incitement of discontent or rebellion against a government or group. Any action, especially in speech or writing, promoting such discontent or rebellion.
Anything that brings division within the Body of Christ is sedition. People who seek to bring discontentment are being ministered to by the demonic spirit of rebellion against God.
Please note that the Apostle Paul lists seditions with jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions and strife. He does this because they all go together and are all the work of the enemy to destroy the believer and the unity of the Body of Christ.
This behavior is in direct opposition to what Jesus prayed for the Church. After praying for His Disciples, Jesus continued His Prayer by praying for all believers. He prayed: I do not pray for these alone, (His Disciples) but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the Glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
What you have just read is Jesus’ Prayer for us, the Church; all who choose to believe in Him. The Glory God gave Jesus, He has given us. The Benefit of the Glory of God is what unifies the Church and is only found in Christ. God gave it to Jesus, and He gave it to us.
God does nothing without a reason or purpose. The Purpose for the Benefit of the Glory of God is to unify the Body of Christ. Read Jesus’ Prayer one more time. And the Glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
When we stand together, unified as the Kingdom of God by the Glory of God, the world will know that Jesus is the Son of God. Any action on our part that does not lead to this goal is sedition brought on by contention, jealousy, selfish ambition, and strife, all of which are demonic spirits that will bring destruction to the Kingdom of God.
Let us embrace the Benefit of the Glory of God, which has been freely given to us, and operate every day in such a way that brings unity to the Body of Christ. THEN, the world will know!
The Glory of God will…….turn the tide........in the Church
